Simple Daily Practices For More Self-Acknowledgment
In the craziness of life, it's easy to overlook how far we've come and all that we do. But taking the time to acknowledge ourselves can have a profound impact. While self-acknowledgment isn’t something we often practice, its benefits are expansive. It helps us build an internal support system, shaping how we navigate our daily lives with confidence and self-assurance.
Let’s get into it!
Below are some practices that have helped me to incorporate more self-acknowledgment into my daily life - that I am excited to share. 🙂
A Reflection Jar
I created this concept a year or so ago, where every morning or night, I write out and add one positive acknowledgment to a reflection jar! Simply buy a jar you love and some fun paper, and there you have it your very own spectacular Reflection Jar! For some reason, having a cute jar with fun paper that I loved made me never forget to add one.
You can add anything from that day or the day prior!
Think about..
What did I do well today?
What am I proud of myself for today?
Whats one thing I really appreciate about myself today?
What was the small win of the day??
This is one of my favorite ways to make sure I’m acknowledging myself daily.
Mirror Exercise
Check yourself out and give you some L-O-V-E!!
I know we usually look in the mirror as we are rushing to get ready to check out our outfit, making sure we look Amazing. Which we all always do. But what if we took it a step further and paused after we are dressed to look at ourselves and give a compliment? Acknowledge yourself within that moment.
You can say anything from:
Wow, I look incredible today.
I am so freaking proud of you.
I am doing an amazing job.
Today I am really the best version of myself.
This might seem a bit corny, but try it- it makes a difference over time. As I always say, our words and thoughts are powerful, and taking this time to acknowledge yourself in this way will do two things:
Help build more self-confidence.
Slow you down a bit to pause, really look at yourself, and give yourself the gift of recognizing how wonderful you are.
Okay, the last practice I love that I talk about often in my writing is SMALL WINS!
This is so important- every single day, you have small wins. Even on your worst day, I promise there is a silver lining in there somewhere. Acknowledging our small wins helps us to realize that we really are doing much better than we think we are.
The smallest steps sometimes are the ones we should be celebrating the most!
So everyday, as they happen, call out the small wins!
“Oh, I found a penny on the floor”
“My co-worker just submitted my project to get it in on time”
“I just caught the bus as it started to downpour”
“I just ate my favorite snack”
“I took one small step towards my dreams today”
Try acknowledging things like this multiple times a day, and you’ll see a difference— not just in how in how you perceive yourself, but in how you relate to the world around you.
